We know that each auditioner will have unique strengths. Although everyone may not have experience with dancing, singing, and acting, we ask that everyone do each part of the audition. This will give us a sense of where you’re currently at. Not all roles require doing all three of these things (though we encourage cast members developing existing, new, or latent talents as we put the show together).
We hope that each auditioner can enjoy participating and know how much we appreciate and value their individual and unique character and abilities. Sometimes we don’t know what we’re looking for until a cast member brings us something amazing.
What to Prepare for the Audition:
Dance Audition: Wear loose clothing and close-toed shoes you can dance in. A short routine will be taught at the auditions.
Vocal Audition: No accompaniment will be provided or permitted. Please be prepared to sing acapella, 8-20 measures of a song. The song can be broadway, opera, pop, or even just “Happy Birthday”. Choose a song that best demonstrates your ability and comfort level.
Acting Audition: Please do NOT prepare a formal monologue. There will also be no reading from the script at the initial auditions. You will be asked to introduce one of the other auditioners in your group. We are looking for character and energy and what acting we think we can get out of you. This is a comedic show, so timing and a natural sense for comedy are great.
All of those needed for callbacks will receive an email. WE WILL NOT BE CALLING BACK MANY OF THOSE WHO WILL BE CAST IN THE SHOW. There are simply a couple characters whom we may need to see groups of auditioners together.
Dance Callbacks: Please be prepared to learn an additional routine and to perform the routine learned at the initial audition.
Vocal Callbacks: Please be prepared to sight read, have your range tested, and to sing any one of the following excerpts from the show:
Acting Callbacks: Please be prepared to read from one of the following scenes. Scenes for Callbacks
Not everyone called back will be asked to sing, dance, and act. Please do not be disappointed if you are not asked to participate in any of these areas at callbacks … we already know you are amazing! Callback time is short, so we must prioritize and quickly get through a lot.
